LET’S FACE IT,
as a (small) business owner I’ll produce waste.
The only thing I can “control” is which kind of waste and how I communicate it with my customers.
I want to be transparent about this topic. That’s why I included this page.
At this moment I decided against using plastic as much as I can for my packaging. Only time and experiences will show if this is a decision that works for all my products.
I made this list to keep you updated on my current practices.
PACKAGING
Mailers are made of 100% recycled paper and are recyclable.
Envelopes are made of 100% recycled paper and are recyclable.
Flat carton box made of 70% recycled paper and are recyclable.
Paper bags are recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. I’m not 100% sure if it’s recycled or only natural paper. I’ll use them up and switch to recycled paper bags.
Glassine bags are plasticizer-free, chlorine and acid free as well as recyclable and biodegradable.
Glassine sheets are recyclable and biodegradable.
Please do not bend stickers are paper stickers but not recycled. I’ll use them up and only use stamps instead.
Shipping labels are neither recycled nor recyclable or biodegradable. I’m searching for a more eco-friendly option atm.
Masking tape is original Japanese paper which is made of plant fibers and is recyclable and biodegradable (even reusable if you’re a gentle peeler ☺︎).
Tape for reused mailers is neither recycled nor recyclable or biodegradable. I’ll use it up and switch to paper tape.
REUSED PACKAGING
The size of some goods won’t fit in my usual packaging (originals for example) and in order to maintain a simple packaging system I decided to reuse mailers which I receive myself. So if you’re very lucky and receive a mailer with some nasty bubble wrap or so don’t be sad, because you’re supporting a sustainable system. ♡
